DUMAGUETE CITY — Negros Oriental Board Member Kurt Matthew Teves has resigned from his post after he was caught on video beating up a security guard of a subdivision in Parañaque City over the weekend.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Teves apologized for the incident.
“What happened was already done. I was wrong to lay my hands on him. Whatever the reasons are, I should not have hurt him. For that, I offer my sincerest apologies,” he said.
Teves is an ex-officio member of the provincial board of Negros Oriental and the son of Rep. Arnulfo Teves of Negros Oriental’s third district.
“This incident is entirely on me. I should face it,” he said.
Teves said if the issue is brought to court, he is willing to accept the consequences of his actions.
Rep. Teves said he won’t condone what his son has committed.
“If I want to take sides, I should not have allowed my son to resign or say that he should face the charges that may be filed against him,” he said.
