10 Pampanga cops probed for ‘hulidap’ face robbery case

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Pampanga police on Wednesday (March 23) recommended the filing of a complaint for alleged robbery against 10 policemen who reportedly raided a cockfighting game in Bacolor town last March 19.

The 10 cops, who are members of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), mounted what they called a raid at about 10:30 a.m. in a private residence in Barangay Duat.

“Based on the statements of the complainants, 10 male persons arrived at the place of the incident who allegedly accosted them for ‘tupada’ and during the arrest, the members of PIU divested the victims of their money and other valuables. After which, the police operatives released the complainants without their cash money amounting to more or less P379,700 and valuables with a still undetermined cost and immediately fled from the place of the incident onboard their vehicles,” according to a report released by a police source after the completion of an investigation.

The suspects, ages 25 to 37 and with ranks of mostly corporal, are held at the provincial police camp here for eventual transfer to the regional headquarters in Camp Olivas, according to Col. Robin Sarmiento, provincial police chief.

The suspects confirmed the operations in Bacolor but denied stealing money and valuables from the 10 complainants.
