6 in illegal cockfight arrested in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Six people have been arrested in the town of Masinloc, Zambales province on Sunday (July 4) for alleged illegal cockfighting.

Col. Roman Cardiño said suspects Roen Egalla, Domingo Eduvane, Daniel Ebba, Melquiades Calindong, Niño Rufino and Toni Lann Magno were caught holding a tupada, or illegal cockfight, at the village of Baloganon.

Seized from the suspects were two fighting cocks, two dead cocks with gaffs and P5,700 in bets.

The suspects would be charged with illegal cockfighting and violating the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) rule on social distancing, which was meant to prevent transmission of SARS Cov2, the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease.
