MANILA, Philippines — Interfaith movement Living Laudato Si’ Philippines has endorsed the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo, becoming the latest religious organization to declare support for the independent candidate.

“After a series of discernment, Living Laudato Si’ Philippines decides to respond to the call of the Catholic Church for the lay people to engage in principled politics by supporting a candidate who stands for our beliefs, battles and advocacies,” it said in a statement on Monday.

The faith-based environmental group said it had no doubt that Robredo has respect for life and the rule of law and has the conviction to empower indigenous communities. But it also challenged her to be more clear and progressive with her stand and actions on environmental and climate issues.

While Robredo was open to working with Davao Mayor Sara Duterte should they both be elected to the country’s top two posts, her only bet for the position was her running mate Sen. Francis Pangilinan, her spokesperson said on Tuesday.

In an interview with ANC, lawyer Barry Gutierrez said this position has not changed and she “would not be campaigning for any other candidate.”

Gutierrez’s statement comes a day after Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, Zamboanga Mayor Beng Climaco and Albay Gov. Joey Salceda endorsed a “Ro-Sa” (Robredo-Sara) tandem for the two highest elective posts.
