PNP logs 17 new COVID-19 infections, most since Feb. 22

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday reported 17 new COVID-19 cases, the most since February 22 this year.

The PNP logged 23 COVID-19 infections last February 22,  the most amid the continuous decline of cases in the country after experiencing another surge of cases in the earlier weeks of January due to the threat of the Omicron variant.

On Friday, the PNP logged 17 more cases, bringing the total number of active infections to 20.

Meanwhile, two other PNP personnel recovered from the disease, bringing the number of recoveries at 48,705.

The PNP also reported no new fatality. The death toll stands at 128.

So far, there are 48,853 total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases within the national police force since the start of the pandemic in 2020. Jericho Zafra, INQUIRER.net intern
