Entry of ornamental birds, poultry products temporarily banned in Albay
LIGAO CITY — In order to prevent the possible spread of avian influenza in the province of Albay, Governor Al Francis Bichara have ordered the temporary entry of domestic ornamental birds and poultry products and by products coming from the provinces of Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Pampanga, Bulacan and Laguna.
Executive order no. 08 series of 2022 issued by Bichara said the preventive ban took effect since Wednesday, March 16.
Bichara have also ordered the Albay veterinary office to conduct strict monitoring and activation of border checkpoints in Polangui, Tiwi and Libon towns in order to regulate, minimize and restrict the penetration of avian influenza.
The governor issued the order after three villages in the municipalities of Bula and Sipocot in Camarines Sur tested positive for H5N1 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza based on collected samples during the reported cases on poultry mortality.
All livestock transport and refrigerated vehicles coming from other regions will be allowed, provided disinfection certificates issued by the Bureau of Animal Industry Veterinary Quarantine Services will be presented.
