2 brothers held for illegal guns, P170K meth in Quezon raid

LUCENA CITY––Police arrested two drug suspects and seized two illegal firearms and over P170,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) on Sunday, March 13, in Atimonan town in Quezon province.

Col. Joel Villanueva, Quezon police chief, identified the suspects as Ferdinand Marantal, 38, and his younger brother, Arboy, 31, both of Barangay Malinao Ilaya.

The police swooped down at around 7 a.m. on the house of Ferdinand to serve a search warrant and confiscated a fully loaded .45-caliber pistol and 32 more rounds of ammunition from their target.

During the routine preventive search, Ferdinand also allegedly yielded five more sachets of shabu weighing 23 grams, with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P31,280 and worth P156,400 in the street market.

The police also found P112,000 cash during the search.

The report said Arboy, arrested on “plain view doctrine,” also yielded a loaded .9MM-caliber pistol.

The operatives seized from him two sachets of shabu with a street value of P13,600 and P8,670 cash.
