MANILA, Philippines — Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula on the second Sunday of Lent urged the Catholic faithful to pray for the victims of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, which has killed or injured an estimated 1,500 civilians.
“I ask you to make stronger your devotion to Mary, our blessed mother who appeared in Fatima. Pray the rosary every day, pray for an end to war. Pray for justice and peace in the world,” Advincula said during the Mass for world peace and Ukraine held at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Mandaluyong City.
He also asked prayers for the conversion of the world leaders and that they may “find wisdom to end the crisis soon for the welfare of the children, women, and civilians caught in the middle of the conflict.”
