ILOILO CITY – At least 56 houses were either destroyed or damaged by a fire in Zone 1, Barangay Old Airport in Mandurriao, Iloilo City at around 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
According to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), 47 houses were destroyed while nine were damaged.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas assured affected families that they will receive financial assistance of P10,000 for households whose homes were destroyed and P5,000 for families whose houses were damaged.
The Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office is assessing the qualifications of affected families to be granted temporary shelter.
Investigations by the Bureau of Fire Protection was still ongoing to determine what caused the fire.
