Legarda helps allocate funding for new Tagaytay hospital

Senatorial Candidate Loren Legarda led the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the newly constructed Tagaytay Hospital on Friday.

MANILA, Philippines — Senatorial candidate Loren Legarda cited the importance of setting up health facilities in the provinces to give the public access to quality health care.

This is why she ensured that adequate funding was allocated for the construction and provision of equipment for the New “Ospital ng Tagaytay” when she was the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance.

The newly constructed hospital was inaugurated on Friday.

“We value the health of every Filipino family because the development and recovery of the country also depends on the people’s good health,” Legarda said.

Cong. Bambol Tolentino, Representative of the 8th District of Cavite, thanked Legarda, for ensuing adequate funding for the hospital.

“We here in the Eighth District of Cavite are very grateful that our Senator Loren Legarda did not neglect the needs of our province,” Tolentino said.

The three-term senator also renewed her call for the full implementation of the Universal Health Care Act that she co-sponsored, the law that mandates the regulation of the country’s health facilities and services to enhance the capability of healthcare units to attend to the needs of the Filipino people.

“We have to make sure that our healthcare facilities are fully equipped and that there is a sufficient number of health workers to effectively cater to the medical and health needs of our estimated 109 million population. The completion of this hospital is very timely, and we will ensure that a second wing will also be constructed through the new budget. We will also include all the medical needs and the tools, equipment to make the new Ospital ng Tagaytay a world-class working hospital,” Legarda said.

Legarda has likewise emphasized that aside from taking care of the people’s health, the environment’s health should also be prioritized, especially amid the pandemic.

“Our pandemic recovery should respond to the health needs of our people and on our economic recovery and should be attuned to the climate pathway as we are also dealing with the climate crisis,” Legarda said.

“Especially in a locality like Tagaytay that has very good tourism. Taking care of our people’s health is alongside taking care of our environment’s health, because it is also the source of livelihood of our countrymen.”

Apart from Ospital ng Tagaytay, the Antique Lone District Representative has also allotted funds to provide equipment for Bacoor District Hospital in Cavite. Other programs and projects were also provided to the province through Legarda’s initiative, namely the DOLE TUPAD, TESDA scholarships, DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), construction of multipurpose buildings in the Cavite State University and other barangays in Carmona and Bacoor, and the construction of villa-type cottages in the Development Academy of the Philippines-Tagaytay.
