Pagasa: Slightly hot weather to prevail over most of PH

MANILA, Philippines — Warm and humid weather will prevail in the Visayas and Mindanao due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said  Friday.“Kung mapapansin po natin dyan sa areas ng Visayas and especially dyan sa Mindanao area, nakakaranas po sila ng warm and humid conditions dala ng easterlies. Ine-expect din po natin na may mga isolated thunderstorms po na mararanasan ngayong hapon at gabi,” Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said.

(The Visayas and Mindanao are experiencing warm and humid conditions due to the easterlies. Isolated thunderstorms are likewise expected in the afternoon and evening.)

Meanwhile, the shear line, or the convergence of cold and warm winds, and the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rain to several other parts of the country.

Bulquerin said the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Aurora, Quezon, Bicol region, and Eastern Visayas.

The northeast monsoon, on the other hand, will bring cloudy skies with light rains to Cagayan Valley, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

Metro Manila may also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, according to Pagasa.

Meantime, the low pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility will still bring rain to Kalayaan Islands, Bulquerin added.
