MANILA, Philippines – Anti-narcotics police officers have arrested six drug suspects and seized almost P1.5 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in two different entrapment operations conducted in the cities of Makati and Muntinlupa, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Thursday.
The NCRPO said that Makati City cops conducted a buy-bust operation on Wednesday, March 9, that led to the arrest of Ronaldo Robles, a former PNP personnel, and Erwin Jenel Dela Cruz.
Seized from the suspects were 59 sachets of suspected shabu, one piece of P1,000 bill and 29 pieces of buy-bust money, one improvised handgun, and three pieces caliber .38 live ammunition.
The confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated weight of about 19 grams with an estimated worth of P129,200.
The NCRPO also reported that in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, police carried out a separate buy-bust operation at about 9:40 in the evening on the same day, which led to the arrest of four more suspects.
Officials identified the suspects as Glenn De Guzman, Maylin Rodolfo, Anthony Pasion, and Christopher Bayangos.
Busted from the four were 15 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one piece color brown sling bag, and four pieces of P1000 bill used as buy-bust money.
The NCRPO said that the seized shabu weighed more or less 200 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value amounting to P1.36 million.
All apprehended suspects and confiscated items were taken to the offices of their respective operating units for appropriate documentation and disposition, the NCRPO said.
According to PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos, the PNP vows to continue addressing drug crimes and locate the source of the illegal substances.
“Police anti-illegal drugs operations will continue without let-up in support of the national anti-drug campaign,” said Carlos in a statement.
“We will sustain the 5-year momentum of this campaign with renewed vigor and efficiency,” he added.
Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, and Republic Act 10591 known as Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition in connection to Omnibus Election Code are being readied against the suspects, according to the NCRPO.
