Former jail guard busted for drugs in Northern Samar
TACLOBAN CITY––A former jail guard was arrested in a drug bust operation on Tuesday, March 8, in Northern Samar.
Edelito Galit, 48, was arrested during an operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the local police in Barangay Tumanguingting of Laoang town.
Rogelette Urgel, regional PDEA information officer, said Galit was a guard at the Northern Samar sub-provincial jail in Laoang.
“Based on the information that we gathered, he has been engaging in illegal activity even while he was working as a jail guard. Surveillance was conducted against him and it was confirmed that he was still into (illegal drugs),” Urgel said.
Seized from Galit were three sachets of shabu weighing 0.4 grams worth P2,720.
Galit was detained at the lock-up facility of the Laoang police municipal office. He was charged for possession and selling of prohibited drugs.
