MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) located west of General Santos City would bring rain over Palawan, Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula on Wednesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez, the LPA was last spotted 245 kilometers west of General Santos City.

“Ang LPA ay makakaapekto pa rin sa Palawan, habang sa natitirang bahagi ng Luzon kasama na ang Metro Manila generally magiging maaliwalas ang panahon maliban na lang sa ilang pulo pulong mahinang pag ulan,” said Perez.

(The LPA will continue to affect Palawan, while weather in the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila will generally be clear except for some isolated light rain.)

“Inaasahan naman na maulap pa rin bukas, kalat kalat ang mga pagulan at pagkidlat at pagkulog sa buong visayas, ganun din sa zamboanga peninsula,” he added.

(It is expected that it will still be cloudy tomorrow, with rain and lightning and thunder scattered throughout the Visayas, as well as in the Zamboanga Peninsula.)

The northeast monsoon, locally known as the “amihan,” meanwhile, will continue to affect parts of Northern Luzon where scattered rain and overcast skies are forecast.

The rest of Mindanao, on the other hand, will have improved weather conditions on, with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms, said Perez.

Temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Wednesday:

Metro Manila: 21 to 30 degrees Celsius

Baguio City: 14 to 24 degrees Celsius

Laoag City:  21 to 30 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 21 to 29 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay: 19 to 31 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius

Iloilo City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius

Cebu: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 24 to 28 degrees Celsius

Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius

Zamboanga City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius

Davao City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius

Due to effects of “amihan,” gale warning is still raised in the coasts of Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La union, Pangasinan and Aurora.

In addition, gale warning is also now raised in the coasts of Northern Quezon, northern and eastern coast of Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, and the northern and eastern coast of Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.

Rough to very rough sea conditions should be expected in the said areas, according to Perez.
