Police major robbed of service firearm, cash in Rizal

MANILA, Philippines — A police major became a victim of a robbery hold-up incident in Barangay San Isidro, Angono, Rizal.

According to a police report, the police officer, assigned at the Drug Enforcement Group of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was on his way home from the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City onboard a motorcycle on Wednesday night when the incident happened.

The police officer told investigators that upon reaching a “dark and unlighted” area along Don Mariano Santos Avenue at about 7 p.m., he saw two men onboard another motorcycle that was making a u-turn. At that point, another man who was riding pillion on another motorcycle that was coming from his rear, alighted and approached him with a pointed object.

One of the robbers took his sling bag containing his 9mm service pistol and his wallet containing identification cards and P7,000 cash.

The men then fled in different directions after the incident. The victim reported the robbery to the police, who then conducted an operation to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
