OLONGAPO CITY — The city has achieved herd immunity against COVID-19 after the number of fully vaccinated residents already surpassed the target, local data showed on Thursday, March 3.
According to the city’s COVID-19 task force, at least 191, 825 residents here have completed their primary series of the vaccine since the local government began its mass inoculation in the middle of 2021.
The figure represents 105 percent of the target eligible population of 182,000, data showed.
Hitting the target came amid the improving COVID-19 situation in the city, with only 14 active cases left as of Thursday.
At least 29, 312 residents have also received their booster shots as the City Health Office continues to conduct mass vaccinations, including those for children 5 years old and above.
The city has 260,000 population based on the 2020 census.
