MANILA, Philippines — Over P7.2 million worth of marijuana in Kalinga were seized and destroyed by police authorities over the weekend, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday.
PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said this was the result of clearing operations of cannabis farms in Luzon, particularly in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
He added that the operation yielded over 30,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants and 10,000 grams of marijuana fruiting tops, which were planted in a land area of about 2,500 square meters.
“However, no cultivator was apprehended during the weekend,” Carlos said in a statement.
“The successful clearing operations on weekend is just a manifestation of the staunch cooperation of our police officers and other pillars of the criminal justice system to better serve and protect the community from all kinds of criminality,” he added.
