2 hurt in accident in QC
An elderly woman and her 14-year-old companion were hurt after their vehicle was rammed from the rear by a taxi in Quezon City past midnight Sunday. A Quezon City traffic police report identified the two as Aurora de Alban, 64, and Michelle Denna, 14, both residents of Quezon City. The pair sustained injuries when the Isuzu Crosswind they were riding in was hit by a taxi at 12:10 a.m. on East Avenue corner V. Luna Road. They were brought to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment. The report said the taxi driver, Melvin Vizcarra, 40, would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and multiple physical injuries. Based on the statement of Asteria de Alban, driver of the Crosswind, he was waiting for the traffic light to turn green when the taxi following him suddenly bumped hit the back of his vehicle.—Nancy C. 2 girls drown in Pasig river
Two girls drowned in the Pasig River on Saturday. Evelyn Marasigan, 11, was found at 11:30 p.m., around eight hours after the body of Jelamil Galarita, 14, was fished out of the waters of Muelle de la Industria, reports reaching the Manila Police District homicide section said. The two children were believed to be part of a group of friends who had gone swimming in the river on Saturday afternoon.—Jaymee T. Gamil
