Free 1-day unli ride for commuters who got vaxxed at LRT-2 stations

Starting March 1, passengers who got inoculated at the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) vaccination sites will receive a free one-day unlimited train ride.

MANILA, Philippines – Starting March 1, passengers who got inoculated at the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) vaccination sites will receive a free one-day unlimited train ride.

According to the LRT Authority (LRTA) on Monday, the activity is in accordance with the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) efforts to promote a safe public transportation system and contribute to the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

“This free ride program aims to encourage more commuters to get vaccinated and boosted. We need to step up our vaccination efforts in order to ensure the safety and protection of our commuting public,” the management said in a statement.

Every passenger who receives the inoculation at LRT vaccination sites will be granted a one-day pass from the LRTA.

Passengers must provide their pass and a valid identification card to the security/station officials when entering the gates of LRT-2 to avail the free ride.

The LRTA likewise shared that they will open a new vaccination center at the LRT-2 Araneta Center-Cubao station on March 7.

The vaccination center in Cubao will administer the first dosage and booster doses to commuters every Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On the other hand, the Recto Station vaccination site remains open every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m to 5 p.m.

The Antipolo Station vaccination site is likewise operational every Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Due to the experienced increasing number of would-be vaccinees patronizing Line 2 sites, the City Governments of Manila, Antipolo, and Quezon are willing and ready to increase the initial target of 200 vaccinees per day per vaccination site for so long as it is necessary,” the statement added.  Jericho Zafra, INQUIRER.net trainee
