ANGELES CITY – Some 1,130 persons deprived of liberty or inmates at the Angeles City District Jail received their booster shots against COVID-19 on Friday, Feb. 25.
The whole day vaccination program conducted by the city government here was participated in by male and female inmates who already had their full doses of vaccines several months ago.
The activity at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-managed jail was done via the city’s “Ronda Bakuna” program.
At least 1,300 inmates at the district jail here were inoculated against COVID-19 last year to stop the spread of the dreaded viral disease inside the facility.
As of Feb. 23, the city government was able to fully vaccinate some 336,206 residents comprising 72.6 percent of its 462,928 total population based on the 2020 census. It has also administered booster shots to 59,024 individuals.
The city government’s latest update showed that it had zero new cases, zero recoveries and no deaths on Thursday, maintaining its active cases at 12.
Since the pandemic broke out in 2020, this city has recorded a total of 14,526 COVID-19 cases, of which 13,978 have recovered while 536 had died.
