PH logs 1,671 new COVID-19 infections; active cases now 55,140
MANILA, Philippines — Active COVID-19 cases in the country are now at 55,140 as the Department of Health (DOH) reports 1,671 new coronavirus infections.
In its COVID-19 bulletin, the DOH also reported 1,586 additional recoveries and 59 more deaths due to COVID-19 complications.
The DOH has so far confirmed 3,658,892 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
Of the active cases, 91.8 percent are either mild or asymptomatic. A total of 645 are asymptomatic cases, 49,988 are mild, 2,784 are moderate, 1,424 are severe, and 299 are critical.
The positivity rate was nearing the World Health Organization’s benchmark at 5.6 percent out of 28,039 individuals who got tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Article continues after this advertisementOn hospitalizations, 28 percent of intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 24 percent of isolation beds, and 17 percent of ward beds nationwide are currently in use.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile in Metro Manila, 27 percent of ICU beds, 23 percent of isolation beds, and 25 percent of ward beds are currently occupied.
All testing laboratories were operational on Wednesday but three were not able to submit their data.
