Rain, overcast skies to continue on parts of PH on Thursday – Pagasa

Rain and cloudy skies will continue over several parts of the country on Thursday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

MANILA, Philippines — Rain and cloudy skies will continue over several parts of the country on Thursday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa weather specialist Robert Badrina in a weather report, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” will continue to affect parts of Luzon bringing rain and overcast skies in the Cagayan Valley as well as light rain showers in the Ilocos Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

“Malaki naman ang tiyansa ng mga pagulan particular na sa may silangang bahagi ng Luzon particular na dito sa may Aurora, Quezon at Bicol region dahil sa shear line,” said Badrina.

(There is a high chance of rains particularly in the eastern part of Luzon here in the Aurora, Quezon and Bicol regions due to the shear line.)

“Sa nalalabing bahagi naman ng Luzon kasama na ang Metro Manila inaasahan natin ang medyo maliit na tiyansa ng pagulan, liban na lamang sa hapon at gabi na posibleng magkaroon ng pulo pulong pagulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog,” he added.

(In the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila we expect a relatively small chance of rain, except in the afternoon and evening where it is possible to have isolated rain, lightning and thunder.)

Eastern Visayas, meanwhile, will also continue to experience overcast skies and rain due to the shear line.

The rest of Visayas and the entire Mindanao on the other hand, will have slightly cloudy to cloudy skies with only isolated rain showers expected.

No storms or low pressure areas are also expected to enter the country’s area of responsibility until the weekend, said Badrina.

Temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Thursday:

  • Metro Manila: 23 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 15 to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City:  23 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 21 to 28 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 21 to 29 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 23 to 29 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Gale warning also remains raised in the Northern seaboard of Northern Luzon, as well as in the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao due to the effects of the northeast monsoon and the shear line.
