1Pacman Partylist’s “Save a Child’s Heart” program
MANILA, Philippines — More than 1,250 children benefitted from 1Pacman Partylist’s “Save a Child’s Heart” program which aimed to help children with congenital heart defects (CHD).
The Save a Child’s Heart campaign was led by 1Pacman Partylist Rep. Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero back in 2017.
Among the beneficiaries is Dan, who was found to have heart anomaly while still inside the womb of her mother Leah Resurreccion.
Resurreccion said her doctor ordered an anomaly scan, which confirmed his suspicions that Dan had CHD during Leah’s prenatal exam.
Having no resources and funds for her son’s surgery, she reached out to 1PACMAN Congressional Office and received immediate assistance.
“We needed P600,000 for three surgeries, so we immediately raised funds as soon as I gave birth to him. God may have led to the 1Pacman website so that we were able to discover this kind of assistance of Rep. (Mikee) Romero,” Leah said.
As a result, Dan is now a healthy one-year-old baby boy and is responding well to treatment.
To date, 300 children have received certificates from Romero, assuring their hospitalization expenses, making a total of 1,250 children who have benefited from the project since it was launched five years ago.
The partylist group, which is again joining the 2022 national elections, is also targeting to launch a “Patak-Patak COVID-19 Hospitalization Payment Plan” which seeks to assist COVID-19 patients to get through their hospital bills.
