MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila is now 4.9 percent, less than the five percent threshold recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), independent analytics group OCTA Research said Tuesday.
“The positivity rate in the NCR (National Capital Region) dropped to 4.9%, or less than the WHO recommended level of 5%, for the first time since 12/26/2021, prior to the Omicron wave,” OCTA Research fellow Guido David said over Twitter.
NCR positivity rate dipped to below 5% but remained at low risk. As of February 15, the positivity rate in Metro Manila was at six percent.
Metro Manila remained at low risk status for COVID-19 transmission, said David. It has an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 2.85, a “stable” reproduction number of 0.21, and healthcare utilization of 25 percent in the last seven days.

ADAR is the average number of new cases per day per 100,000 individuals, while reproduction number is the estimated number of new cases from one patient.
Meanwhile in the Calabarzon region, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal remained at low risk, while Quezon province improved to very low risk.
Metro Manila contributed 332 out of 1,427 new COVID-19 cases in the country on Monday, based on the tracker of the Department of Health.
The capital region now has 20,416 active cases of the disease, while the entire country has 58,657 active cases.
