MANILA, Philippines — The Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church will not be endorsing any presidential bet in the May 9 elections as its founder does not want to be “irresponsible” in backing candidates.

House Deputy Speaker Eduardo “Bro. Eddie” Villanueva, a CIBAC party-list reprsentative. also said most of the contenders are friends of his son, reelectionist Sen. Joel Villanueva.

“I have no plans [to do so] because we’re friends with almost all of them. So my prayer is that the Lord’s guidance to the Filipino people will prevail, that they will choose wisely and scrutinize, learn more about each candidate,” he said in a Zoom press briefing on Monday.
