Expect rain, cloudy skies in parts of Luzon and Mindanao on Monday — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies with rain are forecast over parts of Northern and Central Luzon, together with Southern Mindanao on Monday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Asahan pa rin ang epekto ng amihan lalong lalo na sa silangang bahagi ng Northern and Central Luzon area maulap na may mga pagulan,” said Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez.

(Expect the continued effects of the northeast monsoon especially in the eastern part of the Northern and Central Luzon area where it will be cloudy with rains.)

“Samantala dito naman sa Metro Manila at natitirang bahagi ng Northern at Central Luzon, generally magiging maaliwalas ang panahon maliban na lang sa mga ilang pulo pulong mahinang pagulan,” he added.

(Meanwhile here in Metro Manila and the rest of Northern and Central Luzon, the weather will generally be clear except for a few isolated rain showers.)

Southern Luzon and the entire Visayas, on the other hand, will experience hotter and more humid weather with localized thunderstorms especially in the afternoon and evening.

The same goes for the majority of Mindanao, except in its southern parts where cloudy skies with rain are expected due to the trough of a low pressure area located outside the country’s area of responsibility.

Temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Monday:

Metro Manila: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius

Baguio City: 14 to 24 degrees Celsius

Laoag City:  23 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 22 to 28 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay: 21 to 29 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Iloilo City: 25 to 29 degrees Celsius

Cebu: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius

Zamboanga City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius

Davao City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Perez also announced that gale warning is raised in some of the country’s seaboards specifically over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, and La Union due to the effects of the northeast monsoon.
