Farmer arrested for illegal gun, shabu in Batangas

LUCENA CITY – A farmer was allegedly caught with an illegal firearm and a plastic sachet of shabu (crystal meth) in Nasugbu town in Batangas province early Saturday, police said.

The arrested suspect was identified as Johny Roblo, 37, a resident of Barangay (village) Munting Indang, the Batangas police reported.

The police said concerned citizens tipped off the station that the suspect was firing his gun repeatedly around 11:40 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18.

Police caught the suspect while still holding an undocumented caliber .38 gun loaded with two empty shells and two more bullets.

During the subsequent search, the suspect also reportedly yielded a plastic sachet of shabu in his possession.

The suspect was detained and will be charged for illegal possession of a firearm and violation of the election period gun ban.

Roblo will also face a formal complaint for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
