COVID-19 hits 2,232 more in PH; active cases at 65,796
MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 cases continue to show a decline as the Department of Health (DOH) reports 2,232 new coronavirus cases on Friday.
According to DOH, the country currently has 65,796 active cases of the respiratory disease. Of the active cases, 93 percent are either mild or asymptomatic.
There were also 3,010 new recoveries and 79 additional deaths, placing the total recoveries to 3,527,720 and fatalities to 55,409, respectively.
The country has so far confirmed 3,648,925 total cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the DOH noted a positivity rate of 9.1 percent out of 29,812 individuals who got tested for coronavirus.
A total of 946 patients are currently asymptomatic, 60,252 are with mild symptoms, 2,869 are tagged moderate, 1,422 are severe, and 307 are critical.
Article continues after this advertisementThirty-one percent of intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 27 percent of isolation beds, and 21 percent of ward beds nationwide for COVID-19 patients are currently occupied. In Metro Manila, 32 percent of ICU beds and 25 percent of isolation and ward beds are in use.
