ILIGAN CITY—Outgoing Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, who has endorsed the bid for presidency of Vice President Leni Robredo, said the result of a recent survey of preferences for president did not bother but served to inspire them to work more.

Moreno, speaking in a town hall meeting in Balingoan, said he was confident the people would eventually “distinguish the falsities and delusions from the truth,” hence properly discern their choice in the ballot come May 9.

Without naming names, Moreno said: “A candidate leading in poll surveys thinks they can win the presidential vote by flooding the country with money.”

Moreno cautioned voters that these financial resources “come from the people, stolen during Martial Law.”

Moreno, who is seeking the gubernatorial seat of Misamis Oriental, is leading the local campaign for Robredo and her running mate, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, holding town hall meetings every day.

Moreno said they hoped to reach all the province’s 424 villages in 23 towns to surmount the impact of five years of a disinformation campaign against the vice president.

Robredo herself admitted that disinformation is the greatest challenge of her campaign for the country’s highest office.
