MANILA, Philippines — Don’t take surveys as gospel truth, senatorial aspirant Sonny Trillanes IV reminded the voting public on Tuesday, as he hit polling station Pulse Asia for its “historically dismal track record and flawed methodology.”

Trillanes said surveys “often do not reflect the present realities on the ground,” especially amid a raging pandemic.

“Pulse Asia and even the Social Weather Station have made repeated mistakes before,” he said. “It is just unfortunate that the media often reports the results as if it were gospel truth.

The former Navy officer, who is now running for senator under the Robredo-Pangilinan slate, recalled how in the 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, and even the 2016 elections, Pulse Asia made bad calls before the elections.

In 2007, for example, Pulse Asia and SWS surveys placed Trillanes at No. 20 and No. 16 a week before the elections-but he eventually landed at 11th.
