MANILA, Philippines — The country will have generally fair weather on Wednesday even if the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan” and localized thunderstorms are forecast to bring overcast skies and light rain over certain areas across the country.
According to the latest bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies and light rain on Wednesday while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see clear weather.
“Bahagyang lalakas ang ating northeast monsoon o ‘amihan,’ kaya sa may bahagi ng Cagayan Valley ay may inaasahan pa rin tayong makulimlim na panahon maghapon at may mga mahinang pag-ulan,” said Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren.
(As the northeast monsoon or “amihan” slightly grows stronger, parts of Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy weather throughout the day along with light rains.)
“Ngunit dito naman po sa Metro Manila pati na rin sa nalalabing bahagi pa ng Luzon maaliwalas na panahon ang ating inaasahan bukas at may tiyansa ng pagambon dala ng amihan,” she added.
(But here in Metro Manila as well as in the rest of Luzon, we expect clear weather and a chance of light rain due to the northeast monsoon.)
The entire Visayas and Mindanao, on the other hand, will have hotter and more humid weather with chances of rain caused by localized thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening, according to the state weather service.
Pagasa also said it spotted a low-pressure area (LPA) 1,500 kilometers east of Mindanao. But this is expected to dissolve within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the state weather bureau issued the following temperature range in key cities/areas for Wednesday:
- Metro Manila: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Baguio City: 15 to 22 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City: 23 to 30 degrees Celsius
