Veteran broadcaster Ricardo ‘Dong’ Puno, 76
MANILA, Philippines — Veteran broadcaster and former press secretary Ricardo “Dong” Puno passed away on Tuesday due to a lingering illness. He was 76.
His sons, Ricky and Donnie, confirmed this through an ABS-CBN report. Puno had served as ABS-CBN’s senior vice president.
Puno, son of former justice Ricardo Puno Sr., was known as the host of several shows in ABS-CBN including Dong Puno Live and Insider.
He also served as the press secretary of former President Joseph Estrada, before running for senator in the 2001 elections. He lost in that election and returned to his position in ABS-CBN.
In 2015, Puno was reported to be suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
