Metro Manila to stay under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 until Feb 28; Alert Level 3 up in 7 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila will remain under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 until February 28, Malacañang announced Monday.

The National Capital Region has been under Alert Level 2 since the start of this month.

Malacañang also said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has decided to place seven areas under Alert Level 3 from February 16-28. These areas are:

Earlier, Metro Manila mayors have recommended that COVID-19 Alert Level 2 status stays in the capital region until the end of February.

Philippine Medical Association (PMA) president Dr. Benito Atienza said also on Monday that anti-coronavirus vaccination should first increase among senior citizens, immunocompromised people, and children aged 5 to 11 before the government considers relaxing pandemic restrictions in Metro Manila.

Aside from Metro Manila, areas that will be placed under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 from February 16-28 are:

Luzon

Visayas

Mindanao
