Army’s aviation unit to acquire more aircraft
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army will acquire more aircraft to boost its aviation unit in terms of providing close air support to troops, medical evacuations, and supply missions.
Army chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. vowed over the weekend to continue to upgrade the Army’s Aviation “Hiraya” Regiment.
Brawner visited on Friday the air unit’s headquarters at Fort Magsaysay in Palayan City.
He assured the aviation regiment that the Philippine Army will lobby for more air assets, citing the unit for its continuous training of aviators in preparation for the acquisition of additional air assets.
Brawner stressed the need for close air support, casualty evacuation, and resupply assets that can be deployed at any time.
