MANILA, Philippines — Scattered rains and thunderstorms may be expected across southern Luzon and the Visayas due to the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Saturday.
The shear line is the convergence of the easterly winds and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan.
The weather system will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.
The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will experience a fair weather condition with chances of isolated light rains due to the amihan.
Meanwhile, Mindanao will likewise have a fair weather condition with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
According to Pagasa, no gale warning is raised over the country’s seaboards.
“Malaya pong makakalayag ‘yung mga kababayan nating mangingisda o ‘yung may maliliit na sasakyang pandagat, pwede po silang pumalaot,” Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said during the public weather forecast.
(Our fisherfolk or those with small fishing vessels may freely set sail.)
He added that no weather disturbance could affect Metro Manila in the next three days.
“For the next three days, wala naman po tayong ine-expect na sama ng panahon or LPA (low pressure area) na namumuo kaya fair weather condition pa rin po ‘yung ine-expect natin for the next three days dito sa Metro Manila,” continued Bulquerin.
(For the next three days, we are not expecting any weather disturbance or LPA brewing so a fair weather condition is expected for the next three days in Metro Manila.)
