MANILA, Philippines — Single employees of the local governments of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental and General Luna in Quezon are getting “sweet deals” from their respective mayors this Valentine’s Day.
Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental Mayor Jason John Joyce said single employees of the local government will be allowed to take a leave with allowance on February 14. Single employees will also be given a “date allowance” of P2,000 each to spend on Valentine’s Day.
“I will allow you to go on leave on Valentine’s day with DATE ALLOWANCE in the amount of P2,000.00,” Joyce said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Joyce said couples and married employees are excluded from the deal.
For the deal, however, Joyce wants the dates to be fully documented.
“Picture of your actual date upon return to work on Feb. 15. Otherwise, refund date allowance,” he said.
“Ready, set, hanap date!!!! Good luck.”
Meanwhile, Matt Florido, the mayor of the town of General Luna in Quezon, said single employees of the municipal government will receive a double pay on February 14. He added that those who will choose not to go to work “to find themselves” on Valentine’s Day will still be getting a paid leave.
Florido said the funds for the double pay will be deducted from his own salary on February 15.
“Last year, 43 kayong single. Sana naman this year, konte na lang,” Florido said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
