SK councilor shot dead in Samar
TACLOBAN CITY — A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilor from Calbayog City in Samar province was shot dead by a still unidentified assailant at around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Gerald Casaljay, 25, and a resident of P-6 Barangay Migara, suffered gunshot wounds on his lower left chest and right cheek.
His companion, Brandel Yrigon, managed to escape.
Based on the initial report from the Calbayog City police, the victim was on his way home after attending the fiesta celebration in Barangay Osmeña when the lone assailant approached and shot him.
The perpetrator, based on the testimonies of some witnesses, was wearing a jacket with a hood.
Police investigators are conducting a probe to identify the assailant and the motive behind the killing.
