2 alleged drug syndicate members fall in Zambales

Police arrested three persons here on Wednesday night (Aug. 11) for possession of a gun and several sachets of crystal meth or shabu, but only after a chase in the sea.

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Two alleged notorious drug suspects operating in Central Luzon have been arrested during separate anti-narcotics operations in this province, police said Monday.

Col. Fitz Macariola, police provincial director, identified the suspects as Ben Mirano, 42, and Jonel Niric, 26.

Macariola said Mirano, a resident of Masinloc town in this province, yielded 20 sachets of alleged “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P13,600 when he was arrested on Monday.

Niric, 26, a resident of Barangay San Nicolas in Castillejos town, also in Zambales, was caught with eight sachets of shabu worth P12,000 on Sunday.

Mirano is reportedly a member of the Ben Buela drug syndicate while Niric belongs to the Ramat drug group.

Both were tagged as high-value individuals in the region, Macariola said. INQ
