MANILA, Philippines — The tandem of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Dr. Willie Ong, who are vying for the country’s two highest posts, will hold a proclamation rally at the Kartilya ng Katipunan on February 8.
Moreno and Ong are running under the Aksyon Demokratiko party.
Moreno told INQUIRER.net on Monday that a mass will be held at Sto. Niño Church in Tondo Manila followed by a motorcade in the morning of February 8.
“Misa ng (Mass at) 7:30am Sto Niño Church [Tondo] 8:30am motorcade and a simple proclamation 6pm in Kartilya ng [K]atipunan in [L]awton,” he said in a message.
The Aksyon Demokratiko in an earlier advisory assured that health protocols would be observed during the kick-off rally amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Organizers will strictly observe the health protocols outlined by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) which include proper social distancing and the wearing of face masks,” it said.
“[Commission on Elections] Rules and Regulations pertaining to Political Rallies/Events will also be observed,” it added.
February 8 is the start of the campaign period for national positions while local candidates can start their campaign on March 25.
