Newborn among 47 new COVID-19 cases in Tarlac

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – A two-day old boy from Tarlac City is among the 47 persons who got infected with COVID-19 in Tarlac, the provincial government disclosed on Saturday, Feb. 5.

In its latest advisory, the provincial health office said the newborn manifested mild symptoms and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 on Feb. 3. He is currently under quarantine.

Two other children in the capital city, a 7-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl are also among the new cases. They both manifested mild symptoms. The boy is confined at a hospital while the girl is under quarantine.

The province also registered 140 recoveries and zero deaths on Saturday. Its active cases stood at 674.

Tarlac has recorded a total of 22,864 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out in 2020. Of these, 21,341 have recovered while 849 had died.

The provincial government said 362 of the 543 COVID-19 beds remain available in public and private medical facilities as of Feb. 3.

Except for Bulacan, which was recently degraded to Alert Level 2, Tarlac and the rest of Central Luzon are under Alert Level 3 until Feb. 15.
