CEBU CITY — This city has pushed back its vaccination schedule for minors aged 5 to 11 due to its high number of COVID-19 cases.

Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, head of the Cebu City Health Office, said they were supposed to start the vaccination program for children on Feb. 5.

However, they decided to move the schedule to Feb. 14.

As of Feb. 2, about 4,000 individuals aged 5 to 11 expressed intent to be vaccinated via online registration.

Ibones said he would meet with the Cebu Pediatric Society and the city government to enhance the preparations further.

The Department of Health in Central Visayas reported 6,936 active cases in Cebu City as of Feb. 2. There were also 12 reported deaths on the same day.
