OLONGAPO CITY — Two elderly residents in this city have died of COVID-19 complications, data from the local task force showed on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

The fatalities, 60 and 68 years old, suffered from acute respiratory failure.

Their deaths raised the total number of COVID-19 patients in the city who died of the disease to 333.

Despite this, data also showed that the city’s active COVID-19 cases further dropped to 307 on Wednesday from 347 on Tuesday after 49 more virus-infected patients recovered.

Eleven new COVID-19 cases were added Wednesday to the city’s tally.

Since the pandemic began in 2020, Olongapo has registered 6,864 COVID-19 cases with 6,224 recoveries.
