Cops nab man wanted for rape in Camarines Sur
LIGAO CITY—After five years in hiding, police arrested Tuesday the person most wanted for rape charges in Iriga City in Camarines Sur province.
“With careful planning and well-executed manhunt operation, we were able to arrest Reny Boy Gulpe through a warrant issued by the court,” Lt. Col. Carl Joseph Jaucian, officer-in-charge of the Iriga City police, told The Inquirer in a phone interview.
Jaucian said they traced the suspect hiding in a shanty at Zone 3, Antipolo village, a mountainous area about 33 kilometers from the city center. He was arrested at 3:50 a.m.
He said Gulpe was one of the five men suspected of raping a 19-year-old girl during a fiesta celebration in Barangay Antipolo on May 1, 2016.
“We consider the case partially closed, but profiling is being done on the other four suspects, and [we] will not stop until they are put behind bars,” he said.
