The DOH reported a total of 14,546 additional COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the active cases nationwide to 190,818.
Metro Manila, which was earlier downgraded to moderate risk from the previous high risk status, had a share of 4,040 new cases from this figure, based on the DOH tracker.
David said that the increase was most likely due to a backlog in reporting.
The DOH earlier said that while new COVID-19 cases are decreasing in Metro Manila, an increase in coronavirus infections is happening in parts of Visayas in Mindanao, especially in Western and Central Visayas and the Davao region.
