MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and rain are expected in the Bicol region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan”on Tuesday, according to the state weather bureau.
“Sa kasalukuyan itong northeast monsoon ang umiiral sa bahagi ng Luzon kung saan asahan natin yung bahagyang malamig na panahon and also ‘yung mga pag-ulan sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon,” said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Grace Castañeda.
(The northeast monsoon is prevailing in parts of Luzon, slightly cooler and rain are expected in the eastern parts.)
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience fair weather condition with partly cloudy to cloudy skies including isolated rain showers, Pagasa added.
Pagasa likewise raised a gale warning over the northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon and Quezon where with waves of from 2.8 to 4.0 are expected due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.
The northeast monsoon will also bring rough to very rough sea conditions with 2.8 to 4.5 meter waves in the western seaboard of northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of the Bicol region.
