Bill granting P1M to elders reaching 101 years old gets House nod

The House of Representatives approved on third and final reading the measure granting P1 million to Filipinos who reach 101 years old and P25,000 for those who reach 80 years old.

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives approved on third and final reading a measure granting P1 million to Filipinos who reach 101 years old and P25,000 for those who reach 80 years old.

During Tuesday’s session, the lower chamber approved House Bill No. 10647, which amends Republic Act No. 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016. The measure received 193 affirmative votes, zero negative, and no abstention.

Under the measure, all Filipinos reaching the age of 100 will receive P100,000 while those reaching the age of 101 shall receive P1 million. Meanwhile, Filipinos reaching the age of 80, 85, 90, and 95 years old shall also receive a cash gift of P25,000.
