PNP to validate ‘kill threat’ vs Marcos Jr., says chief
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said Monday that they will verify a supposed assassination threat posted on video app TikTok against presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“We will validate it. Mayroon na pong nakipag-ugnayan (we are already in contact with someone),” he told reporters.
“With regard to this report, we are open because our commitment is to secure everyone, our commitment is for a peaceful election,” he added.
This came after the head of the DOJ Office of Cybercrime, Charito Zamora, said she received a text message on Friday concerning a post on TikTok suggesting that an assassination ploy is being planned against Marcos Jr.
Meanwhile, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra said the National Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the matter. NBI is under the DOJ.
