MANILA, Philippines — The frontal system will bring scattered rains over northern Luzon while the rest of the country may have isolated rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Sunday.
According to Pagasa, the frontal system is the convergence of warm and cool winds from the northeast and southwest.
The weather system will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, and Cagayan.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
Easterlies are the warm wind coming from the Pacific Ocean.
Pagasa raised a gale warning over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan.
“Hanggang 4.5 meters po ‘yung taas ng mga pag-alon doon kaya’t delikado pa rin ito sa ating mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja warned.
(Waves may reach up to 4.5 meters so it is dangerous for those with small sea vessels.)
Further, no tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the next five days, said Estareja.
