MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s stance on abortion could not be that hardline after all.
While the senator remains opposed to abortion, the boxer-turned-politician said it is the mother’s “prerogative” to abort a fetus in a life-and-death situation.
“Eh prerogative po nila yun kung sino ang pipiliin nila — buhayin ang anak o ang nanay,” Pacquiao said over DZRH’s Presidential Job Interview when asked about his stand on abortion when a mother’s life is in danger.
“Nasa nanay po iyon kung gusto niya buhayin ang anak niya o siya ang mamamatay,” Pacquiao added.
The senator has always been open about his religious beliefs as a staunch born-again Christian, one of them his stance on same-sex relationships, which drew flak in 2016.
