House bill granting P1 million to elders reaching 101 years old approved on 2nd reading

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives approved on second reading the measure granting P1 million to Filipinos who reach 101 years old and P25,000 for those who reach 80 years old.

During Tuesday’s session, the lower chamber approved House Bill No. 10647 which amends Republic Act No. 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.

Under the measure, all Filipinos reaching the age of 100 will receive P100,000 while those reaching the age of 101 shall receive P1 million. Meanwhile, Filipinos reaching the age of 80, 85, 90, and 95 years old shall also receive a cash gift of P25,000.

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) is tasked to implement the measure.
